A young articulate and vibrant Urhobo Youth leader, Comrade Ibebe Rufus Akpobome was over the weekend at Kokori Town, in Ethiope East L.G.A of Delta State honoured by Urhobowood International with an award as Urhobo Youth Advocate of the year.
The Founder and President of Urhobowood International, Dr. Joseph Orekereke, while presenting the award said, the organization gave Comrade Ibebe Rufus the award because of his numerous contributions towards the growth and development of Urhobo Nation in particular and Nigeria in general.
According him, “he was nominated, voted and got the award because his active participation in programs that have help to build the society like, ‘The Register to Vote Road Walk,’ he organized earlier this year, advocating for Nigerian to get their PVC, lending his voice to issues that matter and above all fearlessly speaking against evil in the society.”
He added that, the organization is giving Comrade Ibebe Rufus the award encourage him to continue in his advocacy journey as well as encouraging others to stand up and fight for a better society like he is doing.
On his part, Comrade Ibebe Rufus thanked the organizers of the award event for finding him worthy to be honoured with such a prestigious award. He stated that all he was doing was advocating for a better society and never knew that award like this would come out from it.
He dedicated the award to God Almighty, the memory of his father, late pa. Ibebe Onajomo Richard, his boss Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, his mentor, Chief Wilfred Ovuorayevbie, brother Ibebe Wilson, two friends that have always been there for him, Innocent Akpojotor and Izobo John and his fellow Comrades and advocates in the struggle for a better society.
