Tragic Collapse: 3 Dead, 2 Injured in Kano Building Incident

A three-storey building under construction tragically collapsed in Kano's Kuntau Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving two others injured.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed these casualties to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, April 26, 2024.
Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi, the NEMA Kano Territorial Coordinator, provided details of the incident, stating that a distress call was received at around 9:20 am from a concerned citizen about the collapse.
Emergency services, including NEMA's rescue team, the Kano State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC, and SEMA, were immediately dispatched to the scene to begin rescue efforts.
Five individuals were initially rescued from the rubble and transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where it was tragically confirmed that three of them had succumbed to their injuries.
The two remaining victims are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
Dr. Abdullahi also mentioned that the search and rescue operation is still ongoing, with the goal of finding and rescuing any other individuals who may still be trapped beneath the debris.
The combined efforts of the various emergency services teams on the scene are focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of all those affected by this tragic incident.
This unfortunate event highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and structural integrity of construction sites, as well as the critical role that emergency services play in responding to such incidents.
