Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, recently presented cheques amounting to ₦47,827,529 to the families of 22 police officers who lost their lives while serving in the force.
The gesture, on behalf of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes aimed at supporting the families of the deceased officers and recognizing their ultimate sacrifices.
During the presentation, Commissioner Olufemi highlighted the commitment of the Inspector General of Police to the welfare of both active and fallen officers.
He emphasized that the financial support is a testament to the courage and dedication of the fallen heroes, ensuring that their sacrifices will never be forgotten by the force or the nation.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support, with one of the recipients acknowledging that the financial aid represents the valor and spirit of their loved ones.
They assured that the funds would be used judiciously.
