The Kebbi State government has released a sum of N309,584,041.80 for foreign scholarship payments. Governor Nasir Idris approved the funds, which will benefit students studying in India and Egypt.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar-Tunga, in a statement issued by the governor's spokesman, Ahmed Idris, in Birnin Kebbi.
Out of the total amount, N228,150,148 is allocated for 63 students studying in India, while N81,433,893:80 will support 23 students in Egypt.
The government has also assured that the remaining 50 foreign students will have their expenses settled in due course.
Governor Idris has been proactive in supporting the educational pursuits of Kebbi State students.
Earlier in February 2024, he ensured the payment of local scholarships for all state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
This comprehensive approach to educational funding demonstrates the government's commitment to investing in the future of its students and the development of the state.
The provision of financial support for students studying abroad is a crucial step in ensuring that Kebbi State's indigenes have access to quality education and the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in various fields.
This initiative not only benefits the students but also contributes to the overall development of the state by fostering a well-educated and skilled workforce.
The Kebbi State government's decision to prioritize education and support its students studying both locally and abroad is commendable.
It reflects a strong commitment to the future of the state and its people, setting a positive example for other states to follow in their pursuit of educational excellence and progress.
