Military Commander Killed in Ambush While Responding to Village Attack in Katsina

A military commander stationed at Sabon Garin Dan’ali in Katsina state was killed in an ambush on Thursday evening.
Major AG Mohammed, known for his prompt response to security threats, met his untimely demise while responding to a distress call from Malali village in Kankara Local Government Area.
Sources close to the incident revealed that Major Mohammed, due to the unavailability of the usual Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), deployed a Hilux vehicle to respond to the distress call.
This decision unfortunately left him and his team vulnerable to an ambush by assailants, who fatally shot the Major in the head.
During the operation to retrieve the Major’s body, a fierce gunfight erupted, resulting in another officer sustaining gunshot wounds.
The Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade Public Relations Officer and the Katsina State Police Command are yet to comment on the incident.
Kankara Local Government has been a hotspot for bandit activity in Katsina State, leading to several villages being forced to abandon their homes due to the escalating violence.
The tragic death of Major AG Mohammed highlights the grave dangers faced by security personnel in their efforts to protect the people of Nigeria from these threats.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for enhanced security measures and resources to ensure the safety of both citizens and security personnel in the face of ongoing security challenges.
