Dr. Abass Mimiko Emerges as ZLP’s Gubernatorial Candidate for Ondo State

Dr. Abass Mimiko, the younger brother of a former governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has emerged as the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate.
Dr. Abass Mimiko’s candidacy was affirmed during the primary election held at the state party secretariat in Akure, the state capital.
Speaking after his emergence, Dr. Mimiko highlighted the priorities of his campaign, emphasizing education, health, economy, and security as the main pillars of his proposed administration.
He promised to ensure food security within a year of his tenure, as well as affordable quality education, industrialization, housing, and free health services for all residents of the state.
When questioned about the support of his brother, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Abass confirmed that his elder brother is fully supportive of his gubernatorial ambition, despite the fact that they are in different political parties.
He also mentioned that his brother believes that if Abass becomes the governor of the state, everyone will benefit.
The National Secretary of the ZLP, Mr. Yahaya Wakama, expressed the party’s readiness to take over the state from the ruling party, urging members to work hard to achieve this goal.
He also mentioned that the days ahead will be demanding and challenging, and that the party must resolve to snatch the state from the jaws of death and the predators whose only desire is to sink the ship of state.
During a state congress held on the same day, Mr. Cornelius Akintoye emerged as the new state chairman of the ZLP in Ondo State.
As the ZLP prepares for the upcoming gubernatorial election, the party is determined to work towards the betterment of the people and the state, with the goal of achieving victory in the November 16 election.
