In preparation for the 2024 Edo State Governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of its 2024 Governorship Campaign Council.
The council will be led by a high-profile Advisory Committee, including Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Esama of Benin Kingdom Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, and National Leader of the PDP and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Chief Tom Ikimi.
The Advisory Committee also includes notable members such as former Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District Sen. Odion Ugbesia, former Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District Sen. Daisy Danjuma, and former Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District Sen. Yisa Braimoh.
The Campaign Council will be managed by a team headed by former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly Matthew Iduoriyekemwen as the Director General, with two-time member of the Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Paschal Ugbome and Barr. Pedro Egharevba among others serving as Deputy Director Generals.
Prince Joe Okojie will serve as Deputy Director General, Finance, while Osaigbova Iyoha serves as Deputy Director General Security and Hon. Osaze Ero as Deputy Director General Field Operations.
Other key appointments include Hon. Fidel Igenegbale as Deputy DG, Special Duties; Rev Olu Martins as Deputy DG, Media and Publicity; Hon. Omosede Igbinedion as Deputy DG, Research and Strategy; and Hon. Timothy Osadolor as Deputy DG, Youth.
The State Campaign Council will be chaired by Governor Obaseki and includes his deputy, Marvellous Omobayo Godwins, Speaker of the Edo Assembly Blessing Agbebaku, Chairman of the Edo PDP Tony Aziegbemi, PDP candidate for the 2024 Governorship Election Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and his deputy governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie Esq.
Members of the State Campaign Council also include the National Vice-Chairman of the PDP Chief Dan Orbih, immediate past Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District Sen. Clifford Ordia, Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Chief Mike Ogiadomhe, and former senator representing Edo North Senatorial District Francis Alimikhena.
Additionally, Chris Nehikhare, Joe Edionwele, Marcus Onobun, Felix Akhabue, Yekini Idiaye, Bayo Ogedengbe, Samuel Ali, Ethan Uzamere, Isoken Omo, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, Chief Osaro Idah, Bright Iyamu, and Mrs. Stella Igbinovia, among others, are listed as members of the State Campaign Council.
This announcement signals the PDP’s determination to secure victory in the upcoming 2024 Edo State Governorship election and highlights the party’s commitment to bringing together a diverse and experienced group of leaders to lead the campaign.
