The Chairman, Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has emphasised the need for residents in the area to imbibe the culture of cleanliness in order for them to maintain a healthy environment.
Hon. Osunde made this known while speaking to newsmen on the remodeling of the garden and park at the Oba Ovoranmwen Square in Benin City.
Hon. Osunde who implored all and sundry in the city to avoid dumping refuse at the garden and park as there are designated points for that purpose, maintained that a sensitisation exercise will be carried out by the Council to educate the people.
The Council Boss explained that the Council decided to embark on the remodeling of these facilities to make it a tourist attraction and to complement the aesthetic beauty of the Oba Ovoranmwen Square.
” For quite a while the park and the garden where we have the statue of Oba Ovoranmwen has been derelict and inactive for sometime now. So we decided to embark on their complete remodeling and maintenance make it attractive to end users who would like to relax and see the beauty of the City centre take photographs and send to their loved ones, enabling those outside the vicinity to enjoy the ambience of our dear city, Benin.”
Hon. Osunde said that the Council will tap into the garden and park’s revenue generating potentials to enable rapid infrastructural and economic development of Oredo Local Government Area.
The Council Boss who commended the developmental efforts of the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki which are evident in nooks, crannies and all aspects of the economy of the state, said that the Council was doing its beat to complement his efforts.
