An alarming measles outbreak in the Adamawa North Senatorial District of Adamawa State has resulted in the deaths of 45 individuals, with the worst affected areas being Mubi and Gombi Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame, reported that 308 cases have been identified, leading to the alarming number of fatalities.
In response to the outbreak, the Adamawa State Government has placed 21 LGAs on alert, excluding Lamurde.
The Commissioner emphasized that the government and partners are actively addressing the situation to prevent further spread and manage the current cases effectively.
The outbreak has affected eight wards in Mubi and seven in Gombi, prompting urgent action to contain the epidemic.
The Commissioner has advised residents to take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their families from the disease.
