Six Top NSCDC Officers Detained by EFCC Over Alleged ₦6bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their alleged involvement in a fraud amounting to ₦6 billion.
The officers were taken into custody at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, for interrogation following a directive from the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi.
According to sources close to the matter, the arrest came after a formal request from the EFCC’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to investigate the officers over suspected fraudulent activities.
A well-placed source within the EFCC confirmed that the officers are currently being grilled over the allegations, which involve over ₦6 billion.
It was clarified that the Commandant General of the NSCDC is not under investigation and that the focus is strictly on the six officers suspected of major financial misconduct.
The Commandant General promptly complied with the EFCC’s request to hand over the implicated officers for thorough investigation.
Efforts to reach the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for comments on the situation were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or text messages.
Similarly, Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC spokesperson, expressed a lack of awareness about the situation when asked for comments.
This development comes as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat financial crimes and ensure accountability within government agencies.
The investigation into the six senior NSCDC officers is expected to shed more light on the allegations and the extent of their involvement in the alleged fraud.
