Tinubu Pledges Continuous Support for Nigeria’s Industrialisation through Automotive Manufacturing

President Bola Tinubu has reassured the nation of his administration’s commitment to fostering industrialisation in Nigeria through the development of the automotive manufacturing sector.
During a meeting with a delegation from the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers and the Nigerian Automotive Manufacturers Association, the President, represented by his Chief of State, Femi Gbajabiamila, emphasized the importance of implementing policies that will boost the country’s industrial growth.
The delegation, led by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ms Doris Uzoka-Anite, highlighted the potential of the automotive industry to create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths and reduce the demand for foreign exchange.
They also discussed the progress of a legislative bill aimed at driving the automotive industry forward, which is currently being reviewed by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
President Tinubu urged the delegation to ensure that locally manufactured vehicles meet the highest standards and can stand the test of time.
He also called for the production of affordable vehicles that can be purchased by a wide range of Nigerian consumers, especially as the government plans to offer consumer credit for the purchase of vehicles and other essential goods and services.
The meeting served as a platform for the delegation, which included representatives from the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), and various automotive companies, to discuss their efforts in establishing vehicle and spare parts manufacturing in Nigeria.
As Nigeria continues to prioritize industrial growth and economic development, the government’s focus on the automotive manufacturing sector is a step towards achieving these goals.
The collaboration between the government and the private sector in this initiative is expected to create jobs, reduce the country’s reliance on foreign exchange, and ultimately contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
