Ramadan : Lagos council chairmen urge Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s progress

The Executive Chairman, Agege Local Government, Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi,on Friday called on Muslim.faithful to use the Ramadan fast to pray for the unity and progress of the country.

Egunjobi made the call on Friday , in his Ramadan message to Muslims in the local government area and the entire country.

He urged faithful to live by the teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) during Ramadan and beyond .

“As we begin Ramadan fast, I urge all Muslims within and outside the council area to imbibe the teachings of the holy prophet, and also pray for the nation.

“Be rest assured that the council under my watch would always partner with relevant stakeholders and the security agents to ensure peace and harmony at all times.

” I pray that Almighty Allah accept our supplications, reward us abundantly and also grant us more fruitful years of Ramadan in good health” Egunjobi said.

Dr Kayode Omiyale, Executive Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in his Ramadan message, welcomed all Muslim faithful to the holy month of Ramadan.

Omiyale urged all faithful to pray for the country’s unity and
development.

“In this month, wishes and desires of humans are answered by Almighty Allah.

“It is important to share with you this crucial request when we make our prayers that we should always remember our dear country , Nigeria, and our various communities in all our supplications and prayers”,he said.

Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe, Executive Chairman Kosofe Local Government, in his message,also greeted and congratulated Muslim faithful on witnessing another Ramadan

According to him, Ramadan is a month devoted to fasting, prayer and alms giving.

“It gives me a great pleasure to extend my greetings to you as we begin the observance of Ramadan, a month devoted to fasting, prayer and alms givings, honouring God and and a month when the Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammed.

“The fasting and prayers that you undertake now are indeed a powerful sign of your commitment to faith and of your obedience to God.

“Your fast expresses our common hunger and thirst for a closer relationship with Allah for faith and forgiveness for justice and peace.

“I urge all Muslims across the state to offer special prayers during the period for divine peace, healing, unity and rapid socio-economic development in the land,” Ogunlewe said.

Mr Tijani Olusi, Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government , in his message, prayed to God for forgiveness of sins during the holy month.

Olusi also prayed that God should fill
hearts with purity and gratitude towards Allah.

“I also pray for peace on earth and to brighten our lives with positivity ” he said.

Mr Abdullahi Oluwa, council Chairman, Ibeju Lekki Local Government, in his Ramadan message, urged the faithful to use the opportunity to offer prayers for the well- being and progress of the country.

The chairman also appealed to faithful to preach peace and live with others in peace and harmony,as encouraged by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) .

Mr David Famuyiwa, Executive Chairman Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA said that the month of Ramadan teaches self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice and empathy for those who are less privileged.

“Ramadan encourages generosity and compulsory charity (Zakat). It also helps instill compassion for the poor.

“May I therefore use this great occasion to urge you all to practice the way of the Holy Prophet, the teachings of the Holy Quran and obey the primary teachings of Ramadan in order to make Nigeria a safer and better place,” Famuyiwa said.

Mr Yisa Jubril, Chairman, Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) ,in his message, said the month of Ramadan is a special month for the Muslim community.

“This month comes with a lot of bounties, blessings, gifts, and manifold rewards from our creator Allah (SWT).

“As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, May Almighty Allah strengthen us in carrying out his commands.

“May God let us taste the sweetness of the month, grant us, through your graciousness, that we give thanks to you, Protect us, with your protection and cover, you’re the most discerning of those who see,” he said.

Also ,Chairman Isolo LCDA, Mr Olasoju Adebayo,also congratulated Nuslim faithful on witnessing another Ramadan.

“For this, I am joining my Muslim brothers and Sisters in saying “Alhamdulilai Robil Aalameen,” Olasoju said.

Mr Kunle Olowoopejo, Executive Chairman Egbe Idimu LCDA in his Ramadan message, appealed to faithful to remember the values of compassion, kindness, and generosity preached by Prophet Muhammed.

“Let us strive to emulate the Prophet Muhammad’s(SAW) example of humility, forgiveness, and service to others.

“May this Ramadan bring us all closer to Allah, and may it be a time of peace, unity, and harmony for all humanity,” he said.
