Lagos, Ogun, and Kano Lead the Way in Internet Subscriber Growth for Q3 2023

In the third quarter of 2023, Nigeria witnessed impressive growth in internet subscribers, with Lagos, Ogun, and Kano leading the charge.

According to recent data, these three states accounted for a significant portion of the country’s total internet subscribers.

Lagos, the economic hub of Nigeria, maintained its position as the state with the highest number of active internet subscribers.

This, in turn, has contributed to the growth of internet subscribers in the state.

Ogun, often referred to as the “Gateway State,” has also seen a substantial increase in internet subscribers.

Let’s take a look at the internet subscriber growth in Nigeria for Q3 2023. According to recent data, Lagos, Ogun, and Kano have emerged as the top states with the highest number of active internet subscribers.

In Q3 2023, the total number of active internet subscribers in Nigeria was 159,498,826, which is a 4.83% increase year-on-year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, it grew by 0.42%.

With 19,188,745, Lagos State had the most active internet subscribers in Q3 2023, followed by Ogun with 9,538,622 and Kano with 8,712,782.

This growth in internet subscribers can be attributed to the increasing penetration of smartphones and the expansion of mobile networks in these states.

Additionally, the rise in digital services and e-commerce platforms has also played a significant role in driving the demand for internet connectivity.

In terms of active voice subscribers, Lagos State maintained its position as the state with the highest number of subscribers in Q3 2023, with a total of 27,043,333.

Ogun and Kano followed closely with 13,136,247 and 12,192,122 subscribers, respectively.

It is worth noting that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) led with 349 cases of road traffic crashes in Q3 2023, while Ogun had the second-highest number of cases with 212.

Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom had the fewest cases with 5 and 8, respectively.

In conclusion, Lagos, Ogun, and Kano have demonstrated impressive growth in internet subscriber numbers in Q3 2023, thanks to a combination of factors such as increasing smartphone penetration and the expansion of digital services.
