APM Urges Adeleke to Prioritize Competence in Awarding Contracts

The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize competence and merit in awarding contracts, rather than favoring cronies and political allies.
The party expressed concern that the current administration may be giving contracts to cronies to fund Adeleke’s second-term ambitions.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the party, Wale Adebayo, APM called on Governor Adeleke to ensure transparency and accountability in his administration’s procurement processes.
He emphasized the importance of allowing qualified and competent contractors to contribute to the development of the state.
Adebayo warned against the dangers of cronyism and nepotism, noting that these practices can lead to corruption, mismanagement, and waste of public resources.
He argued that awarding contracts based on merit and competence would demonstrate Adeleke’s commitment to good governance and deliver valuable projects that benefit the people of Osun State.
The former Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) emphasized that the unnecessary upheaval caused by the award of contracts to companies belonging to the Deputy Speaker should be avoided in the future.
He stressed that it is crucial for government contracts to be awarded to qualified and competent contractors who can deliver quality work, rather than to cronies or friends of those in power.
The APM urged Governor Adeleke to prioritize the interests of the state and its people, and to ensure that public contracts are awarded based on merit and competence.
By doing so, the governor can help promote good governance, enhance the quality of projects, and boost public trust and confidence in the government.
