Fubara Vows Not to Govern Rivers on His Knees

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has declared that he will not govern the state from a position of weakness or subservience.
Fubara made this statement during a condolence visit to the Ubima, Ikwerre LGA country home of Celestine Omehia, a former governor of the state, to pay his respects to the family following the passing of Cecilia Omehia, the mother of Omehia.
During the visit, Fubara emphasized the importance of unity and love in the state, stating that politics of bitterness will only impede the development of Rivers.
He called on all those who claim to love the state to support every course that will advance its interests.
The governor also reiterated his commitment to standing on the side of truth and right in his governance, despite the challenges he may face.
He stated, “I have come here with very few respected elders of the state, to come and support you and say to you that we sorrow with you.”
Fubara has been engaged in a political battle for control of the state’s political structure with Nyesom Wike, his predecessor and the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).
Despite the ongoing tensions, the governor remains steadfast in his resolve to govern the state in a manner that promotes unity, development, and progress.
