Gunmen Attack Residence Of INEC’s REC In Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that gunmen have attacked the residence of its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The commission told Newsmen that the attack took place at 3:30 a.m. this morning, Friday, December 1, 2023.

It said that the security forces fought back the intruders for over half an hour until backup came.

“No one died, but property was damaged in the fierce shootout. A squad of mixed security agents has been sent to guard the home. This incident happened a day after our state office was stormed by a crowd,” the statement said.

The commission demanded a full probe and better security cover for its staff and belongings in Kogi.
