Governor Mutfwang Raises Concerns Over Compromised Security Agencies and Fifth Columnists

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has raised concerns about the infiltration of security agencies by criminal elements.

He highlighted that some security officers are acting as agents for criminals, compromising the safety and security of the communities they are meant to protect.

According to Governor Mutfwang, the security agencies have been infiltrated by fifth columnists, including people who are agents of criminals unleashing mayhem on Plateau and other parts of the country.

He emphasized that this infiltration has led to several instances where security forces have confiscated common tools like machetes from locals, instead of cooperating with them.

The governor called for a thorough review of the recruitment process and a mechanism to weed out “bad eggs” within the security services.

He stressed the importance of diligence to prevent the recruitment of individuals with affiliations to criminal elements.

Mutfwang also mentioned that the work of these fifth columnists within the security agencies makes it difficult for prompt response by the security agencies.

He pointed out that many lives of security personnel have been lost after being ambushed due to information leaked by the fifth columnists.

In response to these concerns, Governor Mutfwang has urged President Bola Tinubu to give a firm directive to the security agencies to ensure that diligence is observed in the ongoing recruitment processes and to fish out the bad eggs within the security services.

This, he believes, will ensure professionalism and discipline within the security services.
