Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has denied claims that all 36 state governors received a sum of N30 billion each from the federal government.
The governor’s response comes in the wake of allegations made by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who claimed that the allocation was disbursed to assist states in tackling the challenges they face.
In a statement, Governor Makinde clarified that there was no such allocation and that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), who was said to have disbursed the funds, had no constitutional right to do so.
He further emphasized that the government of Oyo State is committed to transparency and accountability in all its dealings.
This denial by Governor Makinde has sparked a debate among political analysts and citizens alike, with many questioning the veracity of the Senate President’s claims.
The situation highlights the importance of open communication between government officials and the public, as well as the need for accurate and timely information to be disseminated.
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the federal government and the other state governors will respond to Governor Makinde’s refutation.
In the meantime, the people of Oyo State can rest assured that their governor is committed to ensuring that the state’s resources are managed responsibly and in the best interest of its citizens.
