Senator Monday Okpebholo, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has taken a significant step towards improving the lives of the people in Edo Central Senatorial District by flagging off the construction of the 6km Onewa-Uwessan Road.
This initiative is expected to not only enhance the connectivity of the region but also foster economic growth and security for the communities involved.
The Onewa-Uwessan Road, which connects Esan North-East and Esan Central local government areas, is a crucial link for six communities.
The road project, which is significant to Senator Okpebholo due to his personal history in the area, aims to address issues such as the transportation of farm produce to markets and curb the activities of kidnappers within the region.
During the flag-off ceremony, Senator Okpebholo expressed his commitment to completing the road within four months, before the onset of the rainy season and the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
He emphasized the importance of this project in reducing wastage and improving the livelihoods of the local farmers and residents.
Community members and leaders expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting that this is the first time since the return of democracy in 1999 that they have witnessed such a significant infrastructural development in their area.
They expressed hope that the completion of the Onewa-Uwessan Road will bring about a positive transformation in their communities.
The road construction is part of Senator Okpebholo’s broader vision for the development of Edo Central Senatorial District.
He has been actively working with the federal government to address the infrastructural needs of the region, as evidenced by his recent efforts to facilitate the reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi-Okene road.
This initiative by Senator Okpebholo not only highlights his commitment to the people of Edo Central but also serves as a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of the citizens through strategic infrastructural development.
As the gubernatorial election approaches, the completion of the Onewa-Uwessan Road will undoubtedly be a significant achievement for the APC candidate, as it demonstrates his ability to deliver on his promises and bring about tangible change in the region.
