“Lagos State Government to Launch Feeding Program with ‘Mama Put'”

In an effort to address the rising cost of living in Nigeria, the Lagos State Government has announced plans to launch a feeding program in collaboration with local canteens, commonly known as “Mama Put”.

The initiative aims to provide daily meals to 1,000 to 1,500 residents in each local government area.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the plan during a media chat on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

He explained that the program is part of a broader effort to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and ensure that people have access to nutritious meals.

The feeding program will be implemented in three stages.

The first stage involves identifying and partnering with local canteens and caterers.

The second stage will see the government distributing funds to these partners to facilitate the provision of meals to eligible residents.

Finally, the program will be monitored and evaluated to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability.

In addition to the feeding program, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced a 25% reduction on all public transportation in the state.

This measure is aimed at further easing the financial strain on residents and making it more affordable for them to travel within the state.

The Lagos State Government has a history of implementing similar initiatives, such as the soup kitchen program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This latest effort demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during challenging times.

The launch of the feeding program with “Mama Put” is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy by creating jobs and supporting small businesses.

As the program is rolled out, the government will continue to monitor its progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure its success.
