Enugu govt to fund 2024 budget through IGR – Mbah

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has announced that this year’s budget of N521.6 billion will be financed through internally generated revenue, or IGR.

He made this announcement at a Mass held at the Government House Chapel, Enugu, to celebrate the resumption of work in the New Year and pray for God’s favour upon the state.

The governor also promised that the budget would be executed faithfully to address the persistent poverty and hardship caused by the subsidy removal.

He said that the government would revise workers’ welfare and purchasing power and urged them to be prepared to give their best.

Mbah, who said that only about 12 percent of the N521.6 billion budget would be financed through borrowing, solicited the people for more support through tax payment and protection of public assets.

“Now that we have this ambitious budget, which we are determined to implement fully, it is also for our people to keep supporting the government.

“We must ensure that we protect the government’s assets. They are our assets,” he added.
