A magistrate's court in Okpella has handed down jail sentences to two men convicted of vandalizing critical national infrastructure. The court, presided over by P.U.

Abu, ruled on charges brought by the Edo State NSCDC command.

Both men received two-year prison terms each. Their convictions followed investigations into damage to national assets in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area.

Efosa Ogbebor, the NSCDC's public relations officer, confirmed the verdict to reporters on Wednesday. According to him, the judgment shows the command's resolve to combat economic sabotage.

Five suspects were originally brought before the court over the vandalism incidents. Two have now been convicted and imprisoned.

The remaining three suspects are still in custody awaiting trial, Ogbebor noted. He stressed that protecting government infrastructure remains a top priority for the command.

"These outcomes demonstrate our unwavering commitment to safeguarding public assets and national economic interests," the spokesman said. Officials say the crackdown will continue across the state.
