Troops of Operation HADIN KAI intercepted 675 litres of petrol abandoned by suspected fuel smugglers in Adamawa State. The operation unfolded on June 29 at approximately 3:15 p.m. along the Muva route in Mubi North Local Government Area.
Soldiers from the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion, executing Operation Desert Sanity V, discovered 27 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit as the smugglers fled into nearby bushes. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on X on Wednesday.
The troops detected no arrests during the interception. According to security sources quoted by Makama, the fuel was destined for an undisclosed location and was likely intended to supply terrorist groups operating in the region.
"The recovered petrol has been taken into the custody of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion for further investigation and other necessary actions," Makama said.
The seizure forms part of Operation HADIN KAI's broader effort to restrict terrorist access to essential supplies. The military operation deliberately targets fuel and logistics networks that support insurgent activities.
This latest interception underscores the military's commitment to disrupting the supply chains that enable armed groups to sustain their operations. Denying these networks fuel represents a critical strategy in the counterinsurgency campaign across the northeast.
