By Unue Emeka,

The Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said that there was no formal meetings where the issue of zoning of the governorship of the state to a particular senatorial district was agreed upon, adding that he can’t play God on who succeeds him come 2023.

The Governor stated this on Wednesday at an ongoing quarterly media interaction with journalists in Delta at Government House, Asaba.

He noted that though there are speculations’ on which party of the state will produce the governor come 2023, he is not the best place to say where the governor will come from.

According to him, there is no formal meeting of the leadership of the party that he is aware of where the issues of zoning were tabled and agreed upon, hence when it’s time the party leaders will meet to decide what is “fair, equitable and just.

“Some says that the governor has been zoned to the Ijaws, while others say it has been zoned to the Urhobos, the truth is that is only God that knows where the next governor will come from or who he is going to be.

“I can’t play God and it is going to be a collective decision, no one man can decide who becomes the next governor, it’s only God that has such capacity and I am not God, and I will not play God, when the time is reaped, the party shall take a decision, he added.
