Tinubu Emphasizes Technology Investment for Transparency, Accountability in Government

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his administration’s commitment to investing in technology to ensure transparency and accountability in government.
During a meeting with Microsoft founder Bill Gates at the World Economic Forum Special Meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tinubu emphasized the importance of technology in combating corruption and financial impropriety in public service.
The President highlighted his efforts to improve technology during his tenure as Lagos State Governor, which led to a significant increase in the state’s revenue.
He cited the successful use of technology in collecting and utilizing essential data, creating an efficient tax system for the state.
Gates discussed the potential of a one-identity technological platform that could integrate data for better planning, security, and tax efficiency.
He also mentioned the ongoing support for Nigeria’s efforts to implement the MOSIP ID system, which would enhance payment efficiency, bank accounts, and government payment programs.
Gates praised Nigeria’s talented youth and expressed confidence in the nation’s ability to manage these systems.
Additionally, Gates mentioned the use of high-yield seeds and a variety of crops with the potential for improved productivity and nutrition in all regions of Nigeria.
He assured that these seeds had been tested and certified as safe, emphasizing the importance of supporting the Minister of Agriculture’s efforts in this area.
President Tinubu’s focus on technology and Gates’ support for Nigeria’s initiatives highlight the potential for significant advancements in government transparency, accountability, and agricultural productivity in the country.
