AFCON 2023: NFF President Reveals When Injured Iheanacho Will Join Super Eagles

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has shed light on the return of injured forward Kelechi Iheanacho to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.

Iheanacho, who plays for Leicester City in the English Premier League, has been recovering from a muscle injury that has kept him out of action recently.

Despite the injury, Gusau has confirmed that the player will with the Nigerian team in Lagos on January 9, just one day before the squad departs for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

The NFF president expressed confidence in Iheanacho’s recovery, stating that he has already begun running and is expected to be fully fit for the competition.

This news comes as a relief to Super Eagles fans, who will be eager to see the talented forward in action as Nigeria aims to secure its fourth AFCON title.

The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group A alongside Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Guinea-Bissau.

The tournament is set to kick off on January 13, 2024, and will feature 24 teams competing for the prestigious trophy.

As the countdown to AFCON 2023 continues, the return of Iheanacho to the Super Eagles squad will undoubtedly boost the team’s chances of success in the tournament.
