Accord Party has rejected a Federal High Court order directing its deregistration by INEC. The party vows it will remain on the ballot for upcoming elections.

In a statement, National Chairman Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem said the judgment was handed down improperly. He noted that a Court of Appeal had already issued a stay of proceedings on the matter.

Mgbudem questioned how the Federal High Court could proceed with judgment while an appeal was pending. "The court is the temple of justice governed by the rule of law, not fiat," he stated.

Accord's legal team has already begun moves to overturn the ruling. The party says it will challenge what it calls the "contentious judgement hurriedly delivered."

According to Accord, it isn't affected by the suit filed by the so-called National Forum of Former Legislators. The party won two councillorship elections in Jigawa State, it said, meeting constitutional and electoral requirements.

Members, candidates and supporters were assured the party would contest in Ekiti and Osun governorship elections. It will also participate in the 2027 general election, Mgbudem added.

Accord said preparations for upcoming campaigns would continue uninterrupted. The party has scheduled its campaign flag-off for the Osun governorship race on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Mgbudem described the deregistration attempt as an anti-democratic move by reactionary forces. He insisted such efforts to distract the party have failed before and will fail again.
