Edo LG Poll: IPAC Chairman urges political parties to field candidate

Edo State Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Amb. Joseph Omorogbe has urged political parties in the state to field candidates for the Local government election of April, 2022.

Addressing journalist after a meeting of party Chairmen in the state with Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, Amb. Omorogbe commended the Governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki for inaugurating the Commission at this point in time.

While expressing confidence in the ability of EDSIEC to conduct a credible, free and fair elections, Amb. Omorogbe noted that the purpose of local government election is to get people at the grassroots to participate in democracy.

He commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for signing the amended electoral bill into law saying that it will further empower political parties.

Amb. Omorogbe who is also Accord Party Chairman, Edo State, advised EDSIEC to provide a level playing ground for political parties to participate in the election noting that his party is ready to field candidates for the election both at the local government and ward level.

He also said that IPAC will do everything possible to ensure that their own duties as far as the election is concerned is carried out diligently.
