Wavie restores electricity to Owhawha-Delta community after 7-years of blackout

The member representing Ughelli North/South and Udu Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive has restored electricity to Owhawha community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State after 7 years of total blackout.

The lawmaker who is also the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Power and Steel, who announced the restoration of power to the community which has suffered for 7 years without electricity, added that Olomu clan and DSC Township town is next.

Hon Waive who has installed over 12 500kva transformers in the 3 local government areas under his constituency in the last one year, was also reported to have interfaced with the management of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC to clear some communities’ power bills and power restored to those places.

Announcing the restoration of power to Owhawha he posted on his Twitter handles;  “And electricity is restored to Owhawha after more than seven years. Next is Olomu clan and DSC Township, together we are making the difference for our people.”

When Advocate.ng visited the Owhawha community to confirm the report, an elated community leader, Chief Dickson Kpemukpemu described Hon Waive as God sent, noting that God has used the lawmaker to end their years of blackout.

“This is making it almost 8 years the Owhawha community and its environs have no light but thanked God for Hon Waive who have used his good office at the House of Representative to restore light to the community.

“As we speak Owhawha has light now and everywhere is shining, and as you know, when light comes, darkness disappears.

“There was jubilation throughout the community when the light came, women, youths and even the elderly were singing and dancing with Hon. Waive’s name.

“They prayed God to continue to sustain him in his position so that he can do more for his people who have been neglected for years.

“Let this be on record that any time Hon. Waive seeks anything from the Owhawha community and Jeremi Ward 4, we will give it to him, I can assure you that we will continue to support his political aspirations,” Chief Dickson Kpemukpemu added.

On his part, Comrade Moto Oghenetega, while confirming the report said, that the people of Owhawha community are elated over the restoration of electricity to the community.

According to him, “the people are very excited with the restoration of light back to the community, for about 7 years when the entire community was thrown into darkness.

“However, with the restoration of power to the community, businesses and artisans are back to business and the people now feel the impact of government, their case before Hon Waive intervened was that of forgotten people.

“That story has changed, with power back to the community, and since last week the light has been stable.”

Owhawha is a small unknown community in Ughelli South Local Government Area whose inhabitants have suffered untold hardships and neglect till Hon. Francis Waive came to their rescue.
