Fuel Scarcity

Flooding affecting fuel supply chain; avoid panic buying -Uzamere

…EDSG monitoring situation

By Angela James,

Edo State government has said that the recent scarcity and hike in the price of petroleum products is a result of the inability of marketers to move their products to some states due to flooding in some parts of the country.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Engr. Ethan Uzamere.

” Edo State Government is aware of the recent scarcity and hike in the price of petroleum products in the state.

This situation is not peculiar to Edo State as recent report of flooding in parts of the country has made it difficult for petroleum marketers to transport their products to some areas of the country”.

Engr. Uzamere stressed that government was already in touch with relevant stakeholders in the petroleum industry to make the product available and affordable adding that the ministry is monitoring the distribution process.

” Edo State government is in touch with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority, NMDPA, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that petroleum products are available and accessible in our fuel stations at affordable prices”.

The government advised members of the public to stay calm and avoid panic buying as the Ministry is monitoring the distribution process.
