Bandits Attack Zamfara Emir’s Palace, Emir Escapes While Three Are Killed

Armed bandits attacked the Emir’s palace in Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi local government in Zamfara State, Nigeria.
The attack, which took place on Wednesday night, led to the destruction of a transformer and a telecoms mast network booster. Tragically, three people were killed during the incident.
The bandits targeted the palace of Emir Alhaji Muhammed Bunu, attempting to kidnap him.
However, the Emir was quickly whisked away by security agents to the state capital, Gusau.
The bandits proceeded to attack the house of a former Military Administrator of Nasarawa state, Col Bala Mande (Rtd).
This attack is not an isolated incident in the region.
The same night, the bandits also invaded Maru town, the headquarters of Maru local government council, killing one person and kidnapping three others.
The attack lasted more than two hours, causing many residents, particularly women and children, to flee the town in search of safety.
Residents of both Zurmi and Maru have expressed their distress over the recurring attacks, which have resulted in numerous casualties and abductions.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the state police command for comment on the attacks were unsuccessful.
The situation in Zamfara State has been a cause for concern due to the ongoing threat of armed banditry.
The recent attacks highlight the need for increased security measures and a concerted effort from both local and national authorities to address the issue and protect the safety of the state’s residents.
