Your case is dead on arrival, Delta State APC to PDP

…Says stop wasting Delta State money in filing frivolous cases

By Akpos Oghenetega,

The All Progressives Congress (APC)Delta State chapter has reacted to the media publication of the case instituted by the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against its candidates in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

The PDP in the State had dragged the candidates of the All Progressives Congress before the Federal High Court, Abuja in suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/1406/2022 asking for a declaratory order disqualifying the candidates of the APC from participating in the 2023 general elections based on violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act.

While reacting to the case of the PDP, the All Progressive Congress State Publicity Secretary, Ebata Onojeghuo Esq, described the action of the Delta State PDP as dying throes of a failed administration whose time in the governance of Delta State has come to an ignoble end.

Speaking to our correspondent in Asaba, Delta State capital, the APC Publicity Secretary, Ebata Onojeghuo Esq stated that, “this suit by the Delta State PDP is dead on arrival because it is an exercise in futility for a drowning political party that is clutching at straws.

“In the first place, the APC fully complied with the provisions of the extant Electoral Act regarding the issuance of the relevant notices regarding the conduct of our Party primaries. So, we have nothing to fear as far as we are concerned.

Furthermore, on a cursory perusal, revealed that the case of the PDP is an act of deranged desperation as the case is already statute barred by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution. So, we are very confident that the case will not see the light of the day.

The Delta State PDP is very much aware that our gubernatorial candidate Obarisi Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege is the next governor of Delta State and the institution of this case is a testament to that fact. We are building a new Delta State with the EDGE agenda of our governorship candidate.

The Delta State APC Publicity Secretary went on to castigate the Delta State PDP as busy body interlopers whose only official business is the extravagant waste of public funds of the State.

“Their only stuck in trade is the willful and wasteful exercise of spending the finances of Delta State to hire lawyers to file cases such in a bid to stop the current onslaught match of our great Party to Unity House, Asaba. Despite the huge debt profile of the State now amounting to over 300 billion, the Okowa administration cannot boast of any landmark project in the State. Imagine a Governor who wasted over 10 million dollars of the State to procured the vice-presidential ticket of a political party that is already dead and bogged down by intractable crises with no resolution in sight” he added.

The Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communication, Fred Oghenesivbe, had earlier told our Correspondent that APC had deliberately violated relevant sections of the Electoral Act 2022, by not adhering strictly to stipulated requirements and time frame for the conduct of party congress.
