You will still lose to us at Supreme Court – Ganduje tells Yusuf

The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, says the Supreme Court will still uphold the Appeal Court’s decision to sack the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday.

The former governor of Kano State said this while speaking to journalists at his Asokoro home in Abuja.

The Appeal Court in Abuja on Friday confirmed the ruling of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that earlier cancelled the election of Governor Yusuf of the NNPP.

The court said that the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, was the rightful winner of the March 18 governorship election in Kano.

The three-judge panel led by Justice M.A. Adumeh gave the judgement on the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf. The panel said that the NNPP candidate was not eligible to run for office because he was not a registered member of the party when the election took place.

The governor, who was unhappy with the Appeal Court verdict, said he was hopeful that he would get his victory back at the highest court.

But Ganduje, who was happy with the Appeal Court ruling, swore that the APC candidate would still win at the Supreme Court.

He said, “I thank Allah for this important judgment.” We have to thank the judiciary for giving us a good administration of justice despite all the distractions that have happened since the start of the case.

“This is a victory for democracy. It is a victory for the APC and a victory for Kano State.

“This shows that democracy is here to stay in Nigeria.

“But in all, maybe they will go to the Supreme Court, which is part of democracy. There is nothing bad about them going to the Supreme Court. We are also ready to meet them in the Supreme Court. And, inshallah, we will win in the Supreme Court too.
