Yobe State to Spend N187 Million on Free Feeding During Ramadan

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the sum of N187 million for the feeding of the less privileged and the vulnerable throughout this year’s Ramadan fast in the state.

The announcement was made by the state’s commissioner for religious affairs, Alhaji Umar Yusuf, in an interview with LEADERSHIP.

Yusuf stated that it has been a tradition in the state to provide assistance to the less fortunate during the holy month of Ramadan.

The approved amount will be used to purchase essential items such as rice, pure water, cooking oil, and condiments for 84 feeding centers across the 17 local government areas in the state.

A minimum of 200 people are expected to benefit daily from the initiative.

In addition to the feeding program, Governor Buni has also approved the payment of allowances to Muslim faithful throughout the Ramadan period.

The commissioner for information, home affairs, and culture, Hon Abdullahi Bego, confirmed that the total amount approved for the entire month is N187 million, not the rumored N100 million daily for 30 days.

Yusuf emphasized that the state government would monitor and inspect all the feeding centers to ensure that the funds are being used appropriately and that the program is being executed as planned.

The initiative by the Yobe State government aims to support the less privileged and the vulnerable during the holy month of Ramadan, providing them with access to nutritious meals and alleviating some of the financial burdens they may face during the fasting period.

In conclusion, the Yobe State government is committed to assisting the less fortunate during Ramadan by providing free meals and allowances to Muslim faithful.

The N187 million budget for the entire month will be used to ensure that the feeding program is carried out effectively and reaches those in need across the state.
