Two men suspected of armed robbery have been arrested in Oyo State. Police also recovered firearms and ammunition during the operation.
The Oyo State Police Command made the announcement through its spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade. He released details of the case on Sunday.
Officers arrested Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon on June 15, 2026. Both men live in the Sabo area of Sagamu, Ogun State.
The arrests happened along the Oyo/Ogbomoso highway. Operatives were conducting routine patrols when they stopped a gold-coloured Nissan Maxima vehicle.
The car's registration number is FKJ 666 KA. Police intercepted it at approximately 10:48 a.m. that morning.
Officers took the two men into custody immediately. They were then transferred for investigation.
Police later extended their probe to Ogun State. Coordinated operations there yielded significant results.
Investigators recovered two pump-action rifles from locations linked to the suspects. They also found three live cartridges and one spent cartridge.
According to Ayanlade, officers traced and recovered the weapons from areas associated with the men and an alleged supplier. Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The command described the operation as part of its proactive crime prevention efforts. Highway patrols are stepping up security along major routes.
