War resumes in Gaza after truce expires

As the fragile peace shattered with no hope of renewal, Palestinians ran for their lives, while Israelis heard the warning bells. Israel claimed to resume its fight against terror, pointing at Hamas’ rockets. Hamas accused Israel of rejecting any deal to release its prisoners.

In Khan Younis, reporters saw the fiery rain on the east, making the sky dark with smoke. People fled to the west, looking for a safe place. Over the northern rubble of the old battlefield, smoke rose like giant mushrooms. From Israel’s side, the sound of shots and blasts drowned out the dogs’ howls. Two hours into the new war, Hamas said 32 lives were lost to Israel’s strikes.
