Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has announced that Elder Emmanuel Ogidi, a renowned public relations and marketing expert, will chair its 6th Annual Lecture on November 20, 2024, at Hotel Vienna, Asaba.

Elder Ogidi, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR), the Chartered Institute of Economists of Nigeria (FCE), and the Nigerian Institute of Marketing, brings to the role a wealth of experience in public service, political leadership, and security strategy.

Themed “Security Challenges: Finding a Local Implementable Solution,” this year’s lecture will focus on actionable strategies to address Nigeria’s security issues through locally driven solutions. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, will deliver the keynote address, providing insights into practical, community-centered approaches to enhance national security.

Elder Ogidi’s career has been marked by substantial contributions to public service and politics. He has held various key positions, including Chairman of the Delta State Land Use Allocation Committee, Board Member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Special Adviser on Neighbourhood Watch, and Chair of the Security Trust Fund.

His role as Delta State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from 2005 to 2008 led the party to a notable victory in the 2007 elections. As PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-South Zone from 2016 to 2020, Ogidi was instrumental in steering regional party leadership. Currently, he serves on the PDP Reconciliation Committee, tasked with resolving intra-party issues since the 2023 General Election.

Beyond public service, Ogidi is deeply committed to community development. His local contributions include serving as National Chairman of the GKS Laity, reflecting his dedication to both civic and religious causes. His role in this year’s DOPF lecture series is expected to enhance dialogues around innovative, community-focused security measures.

The DOPF’s 2024 lecture series will draw prominent figures from the security, media, leadership, and community development sectors, all invested in finding sustainable security solutions. Under Ogidi’s leadership, the forum aims to underscore the importance of grassroots collaboration in addressing the security challenges facing Delta State and the nation at large.

Last year’s DOPF lecture theme, “Physical Policy and Taxation: Balancing Revenue Generation and Economic Growth,” was delivered by Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei, a renowned financial expert and Fellow in Accounting. The successful session laid a strong foundation for this year’s focus on addressing the country’s pressing security needs through localised solutions.
