As Delta State mourns the passing of former Deputy Governor Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North at the National Assembly, has expressed deep sadness, describing Utuama's death as a great loss to the people of Delta.
In his tribute to the late Utuama, who passed away at the age of 77, Senator Nwoko praised his selfless service to the state, particularly during his tenure as Deputy Governor under Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan from 2007 to 2015. He highlighted Utuama’s exceptional contributions as a legal luminary, distinguished academic, and proficient administrator, noting his role in promoting peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development across Delta State.
"Delta has lost an illustrious son. Professor Amos Utuama will be remembered for his invaluable contributions to Nigeria's legal profession, education, democracy, and governance. Despite his towering status, he was a man of humility and respect," Nwoko stated.
He continued, "I can personally attest to his exemplary life. Though elected as Deputy Governor under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he was known for his fairness and integrity that transcended political boundaries."
“On behalf of the people of Delta North and Anioma, Senator Nwoko extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Professor Utuama and the people of Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South Local Government Area, honoring the late statesman, scholar, and role model.”
