UNILORIN Expels Nine Students for Exam Malpractice

The University of Ilọrin in Kwara State has expelled nine students for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice.

The decision was made following the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 219th meeting, which was subsequently approved by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole.

The affected students come from various faculties and levels within the institution.

Among those expelled are Lateef Lukman Olayemi, a 500 level student of the Department of Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries, and Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, a 500 level student of Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.

Other students who faced expulsion include Adebisi Janet Bosede, a 100 level student of Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, and Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, a 500 level student of CIS/Library and Information Science.

The disciplinary action also affected Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba, a 300 level student of Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies, and Musa Mohammed Asuku, a 500 level student of Engr and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Two more students, Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi and Ayinla Jamiu Olaitan, both at the 500 and 400 levels of Engr and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and Life Science/Zoology respectively, were also expelled for their involvement in the examination malpractice.

The university’s decision to expel the students underscores the importance of maintaining academic integrity and the consequences of engaging in dishonest behavior during examinations.
