Suspected armed robbers disrupted academic activities at Western Delta University in Oghara, Delta State on Thursday.
The invaders entered the school premises through an unfenced perimeter at the back of the campus in an attempt to rob students.
The invasion was foiled following the quick response of the police who arrived almost immediately after the alarm was raised by students who were already fleeing into the bush for safety.
Delta State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, stating: "They (suspected robbers) came in through the broken fence at the back of the school, but the Police responded swiftly and they all fled."
The incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures at the university, including the repair of the broken fence and the implementation of additional security protocols to ensure the safety of students and faculty.
