Ughelli North Local Government Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo (KSC), has committed to revitalizing key infrastructure within the council, including healthcare facilities, primary schools, and the council's administrative headquarters. During a recent courtesy visit by the Ughelli Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Egbo outlined his plans for a comprehensive upgrade aimed at improving local services.

Addressing the journalists, Egbo detailed several projects to be undertaken in the early months of his tenure. “Our plans include constructing an ultra-modern Cottage Maternity Health Centre equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a new administrative block for senior council officials. Additionally, we aim to improve resources for primary education by collaborating with SUBEB to provide better training for teachers and enhanced facilities for our students,” Egbo said.

The council chair revealed that over N25 million has been saved from internally generated revenue (IGR) within his first 100 days, which has been allocated towards purchasing school uniforms, notebooks, and desks for primary school pupils across the area. “This financial prudence ensures that we can make immediate, impactful investments in our community's future," Egbo stated.

Egbo also highlighted ongoing efforts to refurbish local government offices, stating, “Upon assumption, I found our offices in disrepair. Renovations have commenced, including upgrades to the offices of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Leader of the Legislative Arm. We are also acquiring official vehicles for key personnel and a Toyota Hiace Bus for the Press Crew, enhancing our operational efficiency.”

Discussing road infrastructure, Egbo acknowledged the poor state of local roads and mentioned discussions with Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to secure approval for 20 kilometers of road construction in the upcoming budget.

Responding to Egbo’s address, Comrade Sunday Apah, Chairman of the Ughelli Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, commended Egbo’s leadership. “In just a few months, your focus on healthcare, security, and community welfare has resonated with the needs of Ughelli North. Your engagement with the media reflects a solid understanding of the role communication plays in effective governance,” Apah remarked.

Apah further expressed appreciation for Egbo’s decision to appoint a journalist from the local chapel as part of his administration, highlighting it as a step toward inclusivity and stronger relations with the media.

He also urged the council chairman to consider upgrading the journalists’ secretariat, noting that the continued partnership between the council and local media would support transparent and responsive governance.
