In a major step toward cultivating visionary leadership within the Urhobo Nation, the Urhobo Consultative Forum (UCF) has announced the launch of its maiden Urhobo Leadership Series, with Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central as the keynote speaker.
Scheduled for Sunday, July 28, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM (WAT) via Zoom and livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube, the inaugural edition is themed: “Redefining Public Service and Accountability: A Reflection on Senatorial Representation.”
The event is designed as a high-impact dialogue platform to inspire transformational leadership, hold public office holders accountable, and reconnect the Urhobo people with the core ideals of ethical governance.
“This event is more than a reflection; it’s an opportunity to reconnect with the ideals of servant leadership and responsible representation. Senator Dafinone’s presence will provide critical insight into what effective public service should look like,” said Mr. Abraham Ogbodo, Chairman of the UCF Board of Trustees.
The series will feature a keynote address by Senator Dafinone, a fireside chat, an interactive Q&A session, and reflections from Urhobo youth leaders and professionals. It also marks the official launch of the UCF Leadership Scorecard Initiative—a tool to assess the performance of public officials through the lens of transparency, equity, and delivery.
According to Dr. Benson Uwheru, FCIB, Secretary of the UCF Board of Trustees, the series is part of a broader quarterly initiative to inspire emerging leaders and contribute to the socio-political reawakening of the Urhobo Nation both at home and in the diaspora.
Participation is open to all Urhobo sons and daughters, socio-cultural groups, youth bodies, professionals, and diaspora networks. For registration, partnership, or media inquiries, participants are encouraged to contact: [email protected] or call +234 803 355 4675.
