Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff.
Tompolo also conveyed his sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Military, and the late General's family, noting Lagbaja’s significant contributions to national security and stability.
Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw Nation, underscored General Lagbaja’s role in ensuring the security of Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure in the Niger Delta, which he said was instrumental in protecting national economic interests.
He highlighted the General's consistent support and cooperation with local security initiatives, including Tantita Security Services, which work to safeguard vital resources from external threats.
"His support and cooperation in securing oil and gas assets in the Niger Delta region is well recognized by industry players and many citizens alike. His absence will be deeply felt,” Tompolo stated, describing General Lagbaja as an indispensable partner in the region's security framework and a dedicated military leader committed to preserving Nigeria's territorial integrity.
Tompolo extended his prayers for President Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and General Lagbaja's family, asking for divine strength and resilience in the face of this loss. He noted that the General’s legacy of service and dedication would continue to inspire those in the military and security sectors.
According to Tompolo; “We are indeed touched in this sad story of the demised of our beloved General, who contributed so much to the security of the country and external aggressions.
“His support and corporation in the security of oil and gas assets in the Niger Delta region is known to industry players and so many persons. We missed him.
“May the good Lord give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Nigerian Military, the Nigerian Army and the family the strength and fortitude to bear the lost.”
He expressed his hope that the memory of General Lagbaja’s service would guide future security efforts and foster unity among all Nigerians.
