Tinubu celebrates Jonathan at 66

President Bola Tinubu has sent his warm greetings to former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 66th birthday, calling him a symbol of democracy.

President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, expressed his admiration for the former President’s remarkable journey of leadership, from being a deputy governor, a governor, a vice president, and a president, to now being a peacemaker in Africa.

He said Jonathan has united and advised leaders on how to live in harmony for the sake of the people they serve.

The statement read: “President Bola Tinubu joins the people and government of Nigeria in celebrating former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, on his 66th birthday, for his exceptional display of statesmanship and for his outstanding achievement as a leader, who elevated Nigeria and Africa to a prominent position in democratic history by rejecting the harmful mindset of those who cling to power at all costs.

“President Tinubu rejoices with one of our icons of democracy, whose modesty continues to inspire hope for good governance in the country and on the continent.

“The President acknowledges the former President’s distinguished profile in leadership, climbing the ladder as Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President, and President, and now promoting the cause of peace in Africa by bringing together and counselling leaders on how to co-exist peacefully for the benefit of the people they serve.

“The President applauds former President Jonathan for dedicating himself to the service of humanity and to strengthening democratic institutions, illustrated by his tireless peace missions and advocacy of non-violence in the smooth transfer of power across the African continent.

“As the former President turns 66, President Tinubu affirms that his wisdom, foresight, and patriotism will continue to set an example for leaders aspiring to make a difference in Nigeria and beyond.

“The President prays that God Almighty will always keep the former President and his wife, Patience, in good health and strength.
