The Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, known as (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa), has called on the African Union (AU) to do everything possible towards restoring normalcy to the war torn Sudan.
Rev. Joel Billi, the President of the church, made the appeal at the 76 General Church Council held at Kwarshi community in Hong Local Government Area of the state, with a theme “Great is God’s faithfulness”.
He said Sudan’s prosperity and stability would be good for Nigeria’s stability and development especially considering the existing diplomatic relationship between the two nations.
“The conflict in Sudan should be a thing of concerned to all of us because proliferation of arms and ammunitions on the African continent would definitely affect Nigeria’s peace and stability.
“I therefore call on all pastors and delegates to continue to pray for divine intervention to restore peace in Sudan and other war torn areas.
“Their prosperity and stability will be good for our nation’s stability,” he said.
Billi also called on the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu, to be the President for all Nigerians leaving no one behind and nothing is left untouched.
According to him, Tinubu’s government is coming at a time when the country is facing numerous economic, social and security challenges.
He prayed for God to give Tinubu the wisdom, strength and political will to address the challenges and create employment opportunities for the teeming youths.
He called on the incoming members of the National Assembly to ensure good representation of their respective constituencies and live up to expectations of their constituents by delivering dividends of democracy.
Rev. Daniel Nbaya, the General Secretary of the Church, called on the congregation to chart ways that would contribute on the resolutions and way forward for the nation.
He tasked other christian bodies and other faith based groups on peaceful coexistence as panacea to growth and development of any nation or an organisations.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 1,700 dalegates attended the council meeting.
