Student and Parents to Face Prosecution for Assaulting School Principal and Teacher in Ogun State

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has announced that a student, Akanni Azeez Olawale, and his parents will soon be prosecuted for allegedly assaulting a teacher and the principal of Agbara Grammar School in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 14, when the principal, Mr. Ajibola Olanrewaju, seized Olawale’s uniform for allegedly behaving unruly and disrespecting authority.

Olawale had registered for the May/June West African Senior Secondary School Examinations in another private school and was no longer considered a student at Agbara Grammar School.

In response, Olawale returned to the school with his parents, who reportedly attacked the principal. In the course of the altercation, Olawale allegedly slapped a teacher and tore his clothes.

The Commissioner for Education has condemned the incident and emphasized that the state government will not tolerate such behavior.

The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) has also condemned the incident and called for appropriate sanctions against those involved.

This case highlights the need for respect and proper conduct within educational institutions and serves as a reminder that disciplinary action will be taken against those who engage in acts of violence or misconduct.
