A Federal High Court judge in Abuja has cancelled bail granted to Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar made the ruling on Tuesday after Sowore failed to show up for his trial.
The prosecution's lead lawyer, Kehinde Akinlolu, SAN, informed the court that Sowore was absent despite knowing about the hearing date.
Akinlolu asked the judge to revoke the bail, citing Sowore's non-appearance and what he called deliberate attempts to delay proceedings.
According to Justice Umar, Sowore did send a letter requesting a postponement. But the letter contained no explanation for the request.
The judge adjourned the matter to June 22, 2026 for the next hearing. A warrant for Sowore's arrest is now expected to be issued.
