Shettima heads to Cuba for G77+China summit on behalf of Tinubu

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Nigeria to attend the G77+China Leaders’ Summit in Havana, Cuba, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The summit, which will take place on September 15 and 16, will focus on the role of science, technology, and innovation in addressing the current development challenges facing the member states of the group.

According to a statement from the Office of the Vice President, Shettima will join other world leaders, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, at the summit. He will also hold bilateral meetings with some of his counterparts to promote Nigeria’s trade and investment relations in line with the economic development diplomacy of the Tinubu administration.

The theme of the summit is “Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation”. The summit is expected to explore proactive ways of enhancing socio-economic growth and achieving the 2030 UN development goals through cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
