Rema Wins Best Afrobeats Award at MTV VMAs 2023

Nigerian singer Rema has made history by winning the first ever Best Afrobeats Award at the MTV Video Music Awards 2023. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday night at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, USA.

Rema clinched the award for his collaboration with American pop star Selena Gomez on the song “Calm Down”, which was released in February 2023. The song topped the charts in several countries and received rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Rema expressed his gratitude and excitement on his social media platforms after receiving the award. He thanked his fans, his team, Selena Gomez, and MTV for the honour.

Rema is one of the most successful and talented young artists in Nigeria and Africa. He rose to fame in 2019 after signing with Mavin Records and Jonzing World. He has released several hit songs, such as “Dumebi”, “Iron Man”, “Woman”, “Bounce”, and “Soundgasm”. He has also collaborated with international artists such as Drake, BeyoncĂ©, Major Lazer, and 6lack.
