Ehiozuwa Agbonayinwa is accusing the NDC's national leader of rigging the party's processes. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today programme Friday, the senatorial hopeful alleged that Seriake Dickson plans to impose candidates.
He claimed he won the senatorial primary fair and square. But Dickson wants to hand the ticket to someone else, he said.
Agbonayinwa noted that NDC held primaries on May 29th. Nearly a week later, results still hadn't been announced, he told reporters.
"Dickson disappointed me totally," the aspirant lamented during the interview. He said the party leader initially encouraged him to seek the Senate ticket.
According to Agbonayinwa, Dickson now wants the party to conduct affirmation for an Ijaw woman instead. This move would bypass the primary election results, he argued.
He also referenced activities at the NDC national secretariat involving Aisha Yesufu. Agbonayinwa suggested these too pointed to manipulation within the party.
